Update: Lost Centuria has been released, and we have a beginners guide as well as the tier list of best characters to help you out with the game! The recently announced Summoners War: Lost Centuria is the latest entry in the popular Summoner's War series. It takes the monsters and lore from Summoners War: Sky Arena and combines it with real-time strategy into something that the series hasn't done previously. You might have already heard about Summoners War: Lost Centuria, it was effectively announced last week, and a lot of the existing Summoners War community seemed very excited to spread the word, clearly compelled by the idea. The core game in the series, Summoner's War: Sky Arena is a turn-based strategy MMO where you can choose from rune sets to customise your character and the monsters that fight for you. There are over 1000 monsters in the game, as well as a refined guild and crafting systems. Lost Centuria, however, is a real-time strategy game focused almost entirely around the monsters from the game - and using a card-based battle system.“We’re shaking up the Summoners War universe with Lost Centuria by taking everything our fans love about Sky Arena and combining it with an active battle system that’s sure to create an all new competitive landscape,” said Com2uS CEO James Song. “This has been an incredible year for Summoners War as we consistently take the IP in new and unexpected directions. The demand for more Summoners War is there and we aim to fill it.”We're happy to be able to reveal a Cinematic Trailer, and a Teaser Trailer, for the new game, ahead of its CBT (closed beta test) which takes place from Nov 21-30 for people who sign up on the Summoners War: Lost Centuria Google Play page. The Procession to Cavalry is a Monty Python-inspired point and click adventure that developer Joe Richardson had hoped to release for iOS following its launch on Steam earlier this year. However, it has been rejected from appearing on the App Store for having realistic portrayals of violence.Richardson had appealed the decision as of the 5th December but has provided no updates on the matter just yet. Alongside the tweet, which you can see below, Richardson included a GIF of several characters in the game being stabbed or having their head chopped off but the gore is amusingly censored with an apple. The Procession to Calvary has been rejected from the App Store for containing 'realistic portrayals of violence'. I have appealed the decision, but my hopes aren't high :'(Fingers crossed, I guess... pic.twitter.com/5fDeb91MAr— Joe Richardson (@JoeMcRichardson) December 5, 2020The PC version of the game holds a solid 78 rating on Metacritic from 20 reviews so it certainly seems like its worth playing if you enjoy silly comedy and point and click adventure games. Meanwhile, Richardson's previous game, Four Last Things, is available on the App Store and has a similar artistic style and sense of humour to its spiritual successor. The Complex review - "Greater than the sum of its parts"Games getting rejected from the store isn't entirely uncommon with YouTuber PewDiePie and developer Bulbware's Poopdie initially being refused last year for crude imagery. This was eventually overturned, however, and hopefully, that will be the case here too.If you are interested in giving The Procession to Cavalry a try it's available now over on Steam for £7.99. Alternatively, Joe Richardson's previous title Four Last Things is available on the App Store for £3.99.Looking for other point and click adventure games to play on your phone? Lots and lots of reviews of the Apple Watch have just poured in like a million notifications, all bleeping at us at once. Most of them have spent the past week with it and have written up similar impressions of the high-tech wristwear. Common criticism include it being expensive, fiddly to set-up, and can be very distracting when you don't want it to be.But it's also described as being the best smartwatch right now. However, it's not good enough to convince anyone who doesn't want this latest wearable tech to invest in it.No doubt you want to be informed as possible to what the general opinion of Apple's next piece of stylish tech is ahead of its April 24th launch. So, to further help you out, we've picked out the most pertinent bits of the various reviews for you to read. You'll find those below...The New York Times"What’s most thrilling about the Apple Watch, unlike other smartwatches I've tried, is the way it invests a user with a general sense of empowerment. If Google brought all of the world's digital information to our computers, and the iPhone brought it to us everywhere, the Watch builds the digital world directly into your skin. It takes some time getting used to, but once it clicks, this is a power you can't live without."The Wall Street Journal"The big reason many people—even many Apple fans—will skip the Apple Watch is that it’s too new. There isn't yet a world of apps and services beyond Apple’s own, with independent developers' sparks of genius showing us all the things a smartwatch can be."Bloomberg"The watch is not life-changing. It is, however, excellent. Apple will sell millions of these devices, and many people will love and obsess over them. It is a wonderful component of a big ecosystem that the company has carefully built over many years. It is more seamless and simple than any of its counterparts in the marketplace. It is, without question, the best smartwatch in the world."Mashable"Apple Watch does as much, maybe more, than competing smartwatches, but it doesn’t demand that you pay attention to it. It also succeeded in its most important task: Getting me to keep my iPhone in my pocket. That’s a pretty impressive feat."The Verge"There’s no question that the Apple Watch is the most capable smartwatch available today. It is one of the most ambitious products I've ever seen; it wants to do and change so much about how we interact with technology. But that ambition robs it of focus: it can do tiny bits of everything, instead of a few things extraordinarily well. For all of its technological marvel, the Apple Watch is still a smartwatch, and it’s not clear that anyone’s yet figured out what smartwatches are actually for."The Main Competition finalists for this year's Independent Games Festival have been announced, and there are quite a few mobile games in the line-up.Finalists for the 17th annual IGF will be available to demo at the Game Developers Conference in San Francisco this March.Out of the six titles nominated for Excellence in Visual Art, half of them are mobile games. They include the dreamy and cartoonish landscapes of Donut County by Ben Esposito, and the similarly quirky, picture book-like illustrations of Patrick Smith's Metamorphabet. While we're not sure yet which platform Donut County is headed to, we do know that Metamorphabet is coming to iPad in mid-February.The detailed, black and white sketches of bizarre iOS puzzler Oquonie also made the list of finalists. Our review called it a "beautiful, unique, surreal, arch, and difficult" experience.Out of the six honorable mentions for the art category, half were also mobile, including Hyper Light Drifter, Mini Metro, and Bronze Award-winning The Sailor's Dream. This trend of half-mobile, half-desktop nominees continues into the Excellence in Narrative category, where we have the Gold Award-winning 80 Days by Inkle Studios, Ice-Bound, and Pry; curiously, all text-driven interactive fictions. The only mobile honorable mention for Excellence in Narrative is The Sailor's Dream.80 Days was also nominated for Excellence in Design, followed by the Gold Award-winning comic book puzzler Framed. These were the only mobile games to make the design category, though Desert Golfing and Mini Metro did receive honorable mentions.Simogo's The Sailor's Dream finally gets a real nomination in the Excellence in Audio category, accompanied by papercraft musical game Ephemerid and the Gold Award-winning retro platformer Shovel Knight.Rhythmic racer THUMPER also made the list, but we're not sure if that's actually coming to mobile or not. If it does, chances are it'd be Vita, as we've previously covered.Deep Under the Sky, FOTONICA, Hotline Miami 2, and Smash Hit all got honorable mentions for Excellence in Audio.Nominated for the Nuovo Award, which honors "abstract and unconventional game development," is the nearly infamous Desert Golfing and the two-player dancing game Bounden, with Ice-Bound included as an honorable mention. Finally, nominated for the Seumas McNally Grand Prize is 80 Days and Metamorphabet, with Donut County, Shovel Knight, and The Sailor's Dream included in the honorable mentions. The 2015 IGF awards will be held on the night of Wednesday, March 4th in San Francisco, CA during the annual Game Developers Conference.Attendees will get the chance to play the nominated games at the IGF Pavilion on the expo floor during the convention. For a full list of games nominated, including non-mobile titles, head over to the IGF's official website.
