The Green Gables folk went home after Christmas, Marilla under solemn covenant to return for a month in the spring. More snow came before New Year's, and the harbor froze over, but the gulf still was free, beyond the white, imprisoned fields. The last day of the old year was one of those bright, cold, dazzling winter days, which bombard us with their brilliancy, and command our admiration but never our love. The sky was sharp and blue; the snow diamonds sparkled insistently; the stark trees were bare and shameless, with a kind of brazen beauty; the hills shot assaulting lances of crystal. Even the shadows were sharp and stiff and clear-cut, as no proper shadows should be. Everything that was handsome seemed ten times handsomer and less attractive in the glaring splendor; and everything that was ugly seemed ten times uglier, and everything was either handsome or ugly. There was no soft blending, or kind obscurity, or elusive mistiness in that searching glitter. The only things that held their own individuality were the firs--for the fir is the tree of mystery and shadow, and yields never to the encroachments of crude radiance.

Netmarble has announced that they will be bringing popular open-world RPG, A3: Still Alive over to iOS and Android for the rest of the world. It's available to pre-register now on both platforms and the App Store listing suggests a release date of November 30th, though this could change. The game itself is based on A3, a South Korean PC game, and looks to blend the large and living open-worlds often found in RPGs with the tension and combat of a battle royale. This means players will have to be alert at all times as PvP is always open. The game's setting is very much inspired by dark fantasy and thus features a post-apocalyptic world with swords and sorcery. Aside from battling against other people, players will also engage in hack & slash combat with enemies in a continuous search find better gear.

Star Wars: Commander officially becomes a Star Wars game this week.By that, I mean Disney has finally decided to add arguably the series' most iconic figures: Luke Skywalker and Darth Vader. Can you believe that they weren't already part of the game? Sure, Disney now own Star Wars and are doing what they wish with it, but to shun Lucas's most famous characters? Pah.What's more, they're to be the first Hero units that have special abilities you can use to your advantage. That's presumably Disney trying to make up for not including the pair in the first place.Apparently, little Lukey and daddy Vader will be given as rewards as part of a limited-time campaign for the game. All of that, and the update, will be starting from December 11th onwards. If you haven't already, you can download Star Wars: Commander [download] on the App Store and Google Play [download].Gamespot

Fairy tale puzzler A Day in the Woods came out for iOS on April 2nd but wasn't announced for Android until earlier this month. There's a reason for that. A couple of them, in fact.Megan Hughes of South Africa-based studio RetroEpic Software told us that A Day in the Woods had to be iOS-exclusive at first. At least, it had to be as far as the studio could see at the time."Currently, there is no way for a South African company to set up a merchant account and sell a game for a premium on the Google PlayStore," Hughes explained.Apparently, this will should be changing in the future, but for RetroEpic, this meant that that an Android version of the game was trickier than it should be."Our options were left, then, to releasing for free or possibly make use other monetization options which didn't appeal to us," Hughes added."It would also have been unfair to release a premium version on iOS and a free version on Android, so ultimately we avoided Android conversations altogether."However, after launching the iOS version of A Day in the Woods, Amazon got in touch with RetroEpic to see if the game could be brought to its own Android app store. This option hadn't occurred to RetroEpic before this and so with it becoming open the studio started to work on an Android version."In the meantime, we saw friends of ours at QCF Design release their game, Desktop Dungeons, via Finji on the Google Playstore," Hughes said."We took a shot at contacting Finji to see if they might be able to help us do the same, not expecting that they would, but they were more than happy to help us out!"Finji is a developer and publisher founded by Adam and Rebekah Saltsman (creator of Canabalt) and is based in Texas, North America.Due to this, none of the restrictions placed on South African studios affects Finji so it can publish games for them on the various app stores.By working with Finji, RetroEpic is now able to finally bring A Day in the Woods to Android via both the Amazon App Store and Google Play. As with all fairy tales, then, it's a happy ending. With all this sorted out, RetroEpic is hoping to bring its next game - a memory-matching puzzler called Ginjah - to iOS but also Android, providing that A Day in the Woods does well on the platform.A Day in the Woods should be available for £3.99 / $4.99 on Android on July 30th.You can already purchase it for iOS on the App Store at the same price.Download Modern Ops: Gun Shooting Games MOD (Unlimited Money) v1.2.4 (MOD, Unlocked All Pack/No Watermark)
